Why a reminder beats a good intention.

The everyday reasons maintenance slips — and how a timely alert prevents it.

Memory isn't a maintenance plan

The problem: 'I'll remember' rarely survives a busy few months — and then you're 3,000 miles past due.

How MDG helps: A service-due alert lands before the interval passes, so the reminder does the remembering for you.

More cars, more to miss

The problem: Each vehicle has its own intervals; the more you own, the easier it is to lose track of one.

How MDG helps: One due-soon view alerts you across your whole garage, so no vehicle quietly goes overdue.

Skipped service gets expensive

The problem: A missed fluid change or filter today can become a major repair tomorrow.

How MDG helps: Staying ahead of the schedule protects the car — and your wallet — from the cost of catching up late.

Questions, answered.

How often should I get an oil change?
It depends on the car and the oil: many modern vehicles on full-synthetic oil go 7,500–10,000 miles or once a year, while older engines or conventional oil are often closer to 3,000–5,000 miles. Severe-use driving — short trips, towing, lots of idling, extreme heat or cold — shortens the interval. Your owner's manual is the final word. The hard part isn't knowing the number; it's acting on it before you drift past due. MyDIYGarage lets you set your vehicle's interval once, then sends a service-due alert by mileage or date so the oil change actually happens on time.
Can reminders be based on mileage and date?
Yes. Schedules support mileage-based intervals, date-based intervals, or both — whichever fits how you drive each vehicle.
Will it remind me across all my vehicles?
It will. MyDIYGarage shows upcoming and due maintenance across your entire garage, so nothing on any vehicle slips through.
Can I customize the intervals?
Yes. The schedules are editable, so you can follow the factory recommendation or set your own based on how the vehicle is used.
